Synopsis

A group of 15 elite high school students are gathered at a very special, high class high school. To graduate from this high school essentially means you'll succeed in life, but graduating is very difficult. The school is presided over by a bear called Monokuma, and he explains to them that their graduation hinges around committing a murder. The only way to graduate is to kill one of your classmates and get away with it. If the other classmates discover the identity of the killer, the killer is the only one executed. However, if they fail to catch the killer, only the killer graduates and the others are annihilated. Which of the 15 will survive the bloodbath to come?

How to watch

A warning before the list: Danganronpa 3 continues from the second game, which was never animated. Watching it without having played that game means meeting half its cast as strangers and losing most of its payoff. There is no anime that fills the gap.

  1. Danganronpa: The AnimationTV
THE ANIMATION

Adapts the first game in thirteen episodes, and cuts a great deal doing it.

  2. Danganronpa 3: The End of Hope's Peak High SchoolTV

Future Arc and Despair Arc aired in the same week, one episode each, and are meant to be watched alternating between them.

  3. Danganronpa 3: The End of Hope's Peak High School: Despair ArcTV

Despair Arc — the other half of the pair above.

  4. Danganronpa 3: The End of Hope's Peak High School: Hope ArcSP

Hope Arc: one episode, and the ending of both.

  5. Super Danganronpa 2.5: Nagito Komaeda and the Destroyer of the WorldOVAOptional

A side OVA that fills in one character’s absence.
